Atlanta, Here We Come!

At West Texas A&M University, we have a chapter of the National Broadcasting Society. This organization encompasses many, if not all, aspects of broadcasting. Through it students are able to produce and create many different types of content, including station imaging, promotions, news and sports packages, studio performances, and sports broadcasts.

All of this is submitted to many competitions, most importantly to NBS’s National Competition. Our university goes up against other universities across the nation, but we don’t let that stand in our way. This year WT has 17 pieces that are finalists in the competition, many of which can be heard on KWTS.

Robert and David Duenes, hosts of The Handsome Man Morning Show, almost swept the Audio Station Imaging category, and two of their show’s promos are finalists. A KWTS sports package and many One Sessions pieces are finalists, as well. Just follow this link and have a look for yourselves at the great work WT Broadcasting is doing.

Several NBS members will be traveling to Atlanta, GA in about a week for the National Convention to hopefully bring back all 17 awards and more awards for the chapter itself. We just might have to get a bigger trophy case….

But the convention is much more than awards. Attendees have the opportunity to hear from broadcasting professionals and learn in different presentations and speeches. Other events provide chances to network with professionals and students. Plus, the location of the convention can bring about tours of broadcasting facilities like news studios as well as television and movie sets. Sight seeing, shopping, and eating is also in store for our Atlanta-bound NBS members! Wish us luck!

Since Spring Break is just around the corner, it will be good time to take advantage of KWTS’ s online streaming! Just listen to us at or download the WT Mobile App! You can listen to us anywhere! Tell us where you like to listen to The One in this week’s poll…

The quote is spot on in the lesson that I learned which is that you cannot change the past and you need to not let it determine your attitude for the day. When you cannot do what’s been done you just have to ‘keep going’.”- Skyler Hoodenpyle
